As I make my way to Downtown Wilmington, I’m instantly reminded of the many drives up and down 95 from Delaware to Jersey and Philly everyday when I was in school. This particular area I’ve never been in but I’m completely at peace with the unknown; catching up with the bredren is the reason for my pilgrimage so everything else doesn’t matter. Met briskly by the frigid air of winter’s breeze as it is December; we hop into the car and zoom over to a local cafe for some breakfast then back to 7’s studio. As we sit at the bar and talk about the concept for an event he’s doing in February, I’m reminded of his knack for gathering resources, listening to others and listening to his artistic calling with complete obedience.

We engaged in free flow conversation about everything from music, lifestyle and heart posture to his upcoming collaboration with the Wilmington Concord Mall for a concept pop-up shop called The Big Innerg: Sankofa Collective; an exclusive art experience for patrons and supporters.

Looking forward to visiting the store, contributing to the free store and watching the space take shape. Stay tuned via Instagram on all things Sankofa Collective and 7god. Here’s our conversation.
