Hues of Bluew3rd

,

It’s the middle of October, I’d spoken to Blue a few days earlier about him making me a loc cap for the winter. During our conversation he said he was going to compete in a calisthenics competition in South Philly; without hesitation I told em’ I’d be there. Blue is a multidisciplinary artist who is keen to fashion, art, music, calisthenics , croquet and just about anything that demands creative input; he finds ways to create his own. Clever with words, rhymes and a force to be reckoned with on the pull up bars; bro is a problem. We’ve had many conversations over the years about hiphop, consciousness and art forms; I can say with confidence, he’s pushing the envelope on art and the use of words.

Personally, I don’t know too many people doing it the way he’s doing it. Rich with the experience of being groomed in Philly, observing and participating in several eras of underground rap and art scenes. Detailing his family origins from Upstate New York and the Carolinas, being raised in Germantown and Norristown, recording in Pottstown and focusing on the objective of establishing himself as an emcee, tastemaker and artist; you quickly see his love for the culture of hiphop. Through trials and tribulation, he continues to pursue the endeavor of creating art.

From the early beginnings in Norristown to Philly’s underground hiphop scene, being homeless, finding hope once again then getting hit by a car only to get back up to create once more. Blue’s attitude and discipline is an inspirational quality he carries into his work. If you’re a fellow artist, there’s much to gain from hearing another artist’s trials and triumphs, it gives you perspective and awareness; there is value in it. The journey is long and his new love for crochet throws him into a lane of his own once again, the sky’s the limit for Blue.

I’d love to give y’all a magazine experience of this interview, physical print. However we’re not there yet so for now I offer you the digital version of our conversation with Blue W3RD.
